Updates: Modern Love & Glee

Deadline has an update on Modern Love – Ally Sheedy, Cara Buono and Samantha Futerman have been cast in the pilot.

Buono will play the ambitious Styles Editor at Simon’s paper who is torn between her career and her family. Sheedy will play the paper’s ballsy and no-nonsense Assistant Managing Editor. Also cast in the pilot are Alice Ripley in the recurring role of Simon’s wife and Charlie Semine, who will guest star as a NYC fireman.

Based on a casting call posted by Central Casting NY (if you have triplets, hit the link), the pilot starts shooting in New York next week, from September 9 to October 4.

And Glee 3.01 has a title – “The Purple Piano Project.” Here is the press release from Fox:

New TV pilot: Modern Love

Here is a surprise: a new acting gig and we don’t have to turn the Internet upside down to find out about it. Also yeah, possibly a new TV series for Eric. Deadline writes that he has been cast as the lead in a new TV pilot for Lifetime, called Modern Love. Here are the first details:

Created and executive produced by Sex and the City alumna Jenny Bicks, the project weaves actual stories from New York Times columns to explore the state of modern relationships. It follows newspaper science editor Simon McElvane (Stoltz) as he faces a deteriorating marriage, the ramifications of potentially starting over and balancing his relationship with his adopted 15-year-old daughter. Unexpectedly handed the job of editor of the newspaper’s Modern Love column, Simon discovers he has a lot to learn about life and love.
